What Estimated Rebuild Value does and does not mean

Understand the scope of ERV before using RepoWorth in financing, diligence, procurement, or enterprise conversations.

Updated July 24, 2026 · Revision 1

ERV evaluates the measured, as-is codebase at a stated commit. It estimates reconstruction effort for a capable engineering team already familiar with that codebase.

ERV does not value the company, equity, intellectual property, revenue, brand, market position, customer relationships, domain expertise, operational knowledge, or the path taken to reach the current implementation.

ERV is not a build-vs-buy quote and is not evidence that a buyer or outside team could reproduce the product for the displayed amount. Transfer friction, product discovery, field learning, switching risk, security validation, and production operations require separate diligence.

For enterprise vendor-risk decisions, lead with maintenance continuity, recent accepted work, release cadence, maintainer concentration, dependency and verification evidence, and technical-health trends. Treat ERV as optional secondary context.
